PNF Pattern

Purpose:

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation improves strength, coordination, endurance, motor control, flexibility, and general mobility.  

Directions:  

  • D1 PNF Pattern: Imagine reaching up for your seatbelt and clicking it into the buckle 

  • D2 PNF Pattern: Imagine you are a pirate, drawing your sword from your waist and into the air 

Recommendations:   

  • Can be completed seated or in stance.  

  • Images can sometimes be difficult to follow, especially when the exercise requires a sequence of movements, so the following descriptive imagery may be helpful for correct execution of the PNF patterns.
