Ring Sitting
Purpose:
Promotes core, trunk, and hip strength. Facilitates two-handed play and aids in developing balance and postural control.
Directions:
Place child seated on hard surface, allowing them to slightly lean forward on their hands for support, as their leg shape provides a wide, stable base.
Recommendations:
As balance increases in child, have them lift hands to decrease support while seated.
Encourage movement by placing toys just out of reach to encourage rotating the trunk.
Ensure the child is not constantly falling backwards, which indicates they may not be ready for this position independently.
