Scooter Board

Purpose:

To strengthen the muscles that help the arms support the body weight in transfers and walking with a walker, crutches, or cane. 

Directions:

Have the child lie face down on a scooter board, with the arms out over the front end. Ask the child to move around the room by using the arms to pull forward or push backward. 

Recommendation: 

  • Scatter small toys around the room for child to collect
